More times than not a person who is planning on being a chauffer has already worked in some kind of capacity in the industry. The thought of becoming a chauffer is not something that happens over night and a person does not normally wake up one day and say I want to be a chauffer. There is a certain love that comes with the driving of a limo and as a person that wants to you should plan ahead for the job. There are many things that go into being a successful chauffer. One can not simply jump into the job and know what will be happening. In most cases there is going to be certain little things about a specific customer that you will need to know. When that happens you want to make sure that you have that kind of knowledge. For this reason it is most certainly suggested that you take the time to work with another company before you set out on your own. This will give you the time and the knowledge to work through the different people in the area that will require your services.
The job itself is not necessarily all that difficult. A good knowledge of the streets and towns in the area is always useful. A chauffer needs to know how to get where he is going and where the customer wants to go. The last thing that you want to happen is for you to have to ask the customer about the location. Having an onboard navigational system is always suggested if you can afford one. This way you will have a way in which to determine the location of the address should it be somewhere that you are not familiar with.
You will also be responsible for taking care of the bags and luggage that the customers have. For this you will need to make sure that you have some decent upper body strength to take care of this. Many of the people that you will be carrying will have a lot of luggage as they may be flying over seas. So you will be responsible for moving all the luggage into the limo and out again once you reach the destination. You must be careful in doing so. Being rough with a customers luggage can be very bad for business. Above all else you should be pleasant even if the people are not being pleasant. The customer is always right.
